This page explains how to have your personal data deleted from ZenTalk, including any data we received about you through Facebook or Instagram when you messaged a business whose Page is connected to ZenTalk. We honour deletion requests regardless of where you live, and this process is free.
Who this is for
You are in the right place if you are any of the following:
- •A person who sent a message to a business's Facebook Page or Instagram account that uses ZenTalk to manage its messages. When you message such a Page, Meta shares a limited set of information with ZenTalk on that business's behalf (see below).
- •A visitor who chatted with a website that uses the ZenTalk chat widget, voice, or email helpdesk.
- •A member of a team that uses ZenTalk and wants their account data removed.
What data we hold from Meta (Facebook and Instagram)
When a business connects its Facebook Page to ZenTalk and you message that Page, Meta's Messenger Platform passes ZenTalk a narrow set of data so the business can reply to you from one inbox:
- •Your Page-scoped ID (a per-Page identifier Meta assigns you; it is not your real Facebook ID and cannot be used to find your profile elsewhere).
- •Your public display name as it appears on your Facebook or Instagram profile.
- •The content of the messages you send to and receive from that business through Messenger or Instagram, including any attachments.
We do not receive your email, phone number, friend list, or any other profile detail from Meta. We use this data only to route your conversation into the business's ZenTalk inbox and, where the business has enabled it, to let their AI assistant help answer you. Our full handling is described in our Privacy Policy.
How to request deletion
You can ask us to delete your data in any of the following ways. Whichever you choose, we confirm when it is done.
Option 1: Message the Page
If your data reached us through Facebook or Instagram, simply reply in the same Messenger or Instagram conversation with the words "delete my data". Tell us the business (Page) you were talking to if you remember it. That message carries the Page-scoped ID we need to find and erase your record.
Option 2: Email us
Email support@usezentalk.com with the subject "Data deletion request". To help us find your record, please include whatever you have: the name of the business or Page you contacted, the name or email you used, and the approximate date of the conversation. A real person handles every request.
Option 3: Remove ZenTalk from your Facebook settings
You can also cut off future data sharing yourself from Facebook Settings → Apps and Websites. Removing the app stops any further data from flowing to ZenTalk, but it does not by itself erase data we already hold, so please still use Option 1 or 2 to have the existing record deleted.
What we delete and when
- •We permanently delete your Page-scoped ID, display name, message content, and any derived records (for example a visitor profile or lead created from the conversation).
- •We complete deletion within 30 days of a verified request, and usually much sooner.
- •We may retain a minimal record only where the law requires it (for example a transaction record for tax purposes). We will tell you if any such exception applies to you.
A note on who controls your data
When you message a business's Page or website, that business is the controller of your data and ZenTalk processes it on their behalf. If you ask us to delete your data, we will act on the request and, where appropriate, coordinate with the business so your data is removed from their ZenTalk workspace. You can also contact the business directly. Either way, we help make sure the request is honoured.
